But wait...what the heck is a Polekayno???
"Polekayno" was the baby word my nephew invented when he couldn't pronounce "volcano." His word stuck with me for weeks as I thought it so brilliant. Eventually I knew I had to honor it by including it in a story. This story became Laranelle and the Great Polekayno (within Otherworldly Fairy Tales).
Sometimes I find inspiration in the world; sometimes I find inspiration from within. It is my every wish that you can find inspiration from Polekayno Books.
Transformation, origin stories, unique observations, and even call-outs on particular parts of society are treasures to be found in Otherworldly Fairy Tales by Ernest D. Hernandez. In these texts, Ernest finds catharsis with what otherwise could not be resolved in the earthly plane. Enter this world of imaginative design and prepare to connect, to be inspired, and…to be entertained!
This is a tale about one young woman’s journey of self-discovery. After her
village was decimated, she ventures out to learn wisdom from the world which transforms her into the leader her people needed most. Later she expands her influence into other worlds bringing peace to many, even herself. Join in on this magical coming of age story and find that you too…can become…a dragon.
Middle of the Ream is a compilation of poems which reflect dominant themes in the life of the writer. Written over the course of one decade, they also capture growth in the style of writing with “That Over There” marking the first poem in this journey from Love to Homelessness and Inspiration to Justice and more. Ernest opens his heart to resolve through writing what otherwise had no resolution. Join Ernest in this mini odyssey of emotions from the sweet spot he found in the middle of the ream.
All is well in the year 2161. The era humankind has sought after for so many generations is now at the precipice of hard-fought intentions. Beyond corrupt government, beyond crumbling schools, beyond partisan politics, beyond racism, greed, and self-interest…beyond beyond.
Were the letters downloaded by a welcoming soul? Was the urging of President Consejos heeded? What would you do if this message came to you in an email from an unknown sender? Did this pop-up window from the future warrant a click? We are in those times.
Is it so very difficult to believe-a message from the future? Just as we can we reach to the past and draw from history, the future can reach to the past (today) and speak truth into us. 2161 comes. How did we arrive? .
The Legend of Azul was my first story. When I wrote it, I was completing a business class assignment on Corporate Culture imagining everything I hoped my future company to stand for.
It came out as this fairy tale though. Learn the lessons of Azul and you too may become...a dragon.
More to Come!
I'd love to know what you want next: more poetry, mental health fairy tales, a novel, a response to Letters from 2161? It's all "in the hopper." Send me a quick note.
I'm listening.
